Before the treatment
It is necessary to consult our plastic surgeon at our clinic before the treatment. The doctor will assess the client´s health condition and recommend a suitable treatment. The doctor will explain the surgical procedure, postoperative regime and the risks of the treatment. If the client decides to undergo the treatment, they agree on the date of preoperative assessment and the treatment itself at the reception.
Good overall health condition of the patient is required to perform the treatment. It is important for the client not to suffer from acute or inflammatory disease nor a skin disease 3 weeks prior to the surgery. They should also stop taking any blood thinners if they do so.
During the treatment
The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia. The surgeon cuts the incision close to the ear front, looses the skin and then moves and tightens the underlying skin tissue. The surgeon removes excess skin and stitches up the wounds. At the end the surgeon uses a head bandage.
After the treatment
The client stays at the clinic until the next day and then can leave for home care. Swollen face or lids, which disappear in 10 days, can be eased by applying a cold compress. The overall recovery time is 2-3 weeks. The clients should cover their face from direct sunlight 2-3 months after the surgery and should use sunscreens with high sun protection factor when staying outdoors.
Who can undergo the treatment?
Facelift is usually performed in middle-aged and older clients whose health condition allows them to undergo a surgery. Smokers should abstain from smoking before the surgery and during the recovery period.
